Everything You Actually Want to Know About MagBak (Answered Honestly)
We sell phone cases, wallets, chargers, and Tesla accessories built around magnets. That raises a lot of questions — and we've seen them all. On Reddit. In our support inbox. In DMs that start with "this is probably a dumb question but..."
No dumb questions. Here's everything, answered honestly.
The Magnet Questions (Everyone Asks These)
"Will your magnets erase my credit cards?"
No. We get this one weekly. MagBak cases use N52 neodymium magnets arranged in a ring pattern. They're strong enough to hold your phone to a car mount at highway speed, but they won't demagnetize your credit cards. Modern cards use chips and NFC — the magnetic stripe is legacy tech at this point, and even that requires sustained direct contact with a much stronger magnet to erase.
Your hotel key card is a different story — those use weaker magnetic encoding. Don't store it pressed directly against the back of your phone for hours. But in your wallet? In a pocket? You're fine.
"What does N52 actually mean? Is it marketing hype?"
N52 is the highest commercially available grade of neodymium magnet. The "N" stands for neodymium, and the number indicates the maximum energy product — basically, how strong the magnetic field is for its size. The scale goes from N35 (weakest) to N52 (strongest).
Most budget magnetic cases use N35 or N38 magnets because they're cheaper. The difference is real: N52 magnets produce roughly 40% more pull force than N35 at the same size. That's why some MagSafe wallets slide off cheap cases but lock onto ours.
It's not marketing hype. It's a measurable, published material grade. You can verify it.
"Do the magnets mess with GPS, WiFi, or cell signal?"
No. We've tested this extensively. The magnets are strategically positioned to avoid antenna bands on every phone model we support. Your WiFi, LTE, 5G, GPS, Bluetooth, and NFC all work normally.
"I saw someone on Reddit say magnets can damage phone screens or batteries..."
Phone screens use LCD or OLED technology — neither is affected by permanent magnets. Phone batteries are lithium-ion, which are also unaffected. Apple puts magnets inside every iPhone from the 12 onward (that's literally what MagSafe is). Samsung uses magnets in their S Pen. If magnets damaged screens or batteries, none of those features would exist.
Wireless Charging (The #1 Support Topic)
"Does MagBak work with wireless chargers?"
Yes — both MagSafe and standard Qi/Qi2 wireless chargers. Our cases are designed around wireless charging, not in spite of it. The back of the Elite case is 1.8mm thick — thin enough to maintain full charging speeds.
"My phone charges slowly with a case on. Is that normal?"
It depends on the case. Thick cases (3mm+) create more distance between the charger coil and the phone coil, which kills efficiency. Our cases are engineered thin specifically for this reason.
But charging speed also depends on your power adapter. If you're using the old 5W brick that came with your iPhone 8, that's your bottleneck — not the case. For full-speed wireless charging, use at least a 20W adapter.
"Does MagBak work with the MagBak MultiCharger even if I have a non-MagBak case?"
The MultiCharger works with any MagSafe-compatible case or phone. You don't need a MagBak case. That said — our cases will give you a stronger magnetic hold, so your phone is less likely to slide off overnight.
"What about Samsung and Pixel phones — do they wirelessly charge through MagBak cases?"
Yes. Our Galaxy S22 through S25 cases and Pixel 7 through 10 cases all support Qi wireless charging. The Galaxy S26 series also supports the newer Qi2.2 at up to 25W — and our cases maintain those speeds since Samsung didn't include built-in magnets.
Compatibility (Before You Buy)
"Which phones do you make cases for?"
As of February 2026:
- iPhone: 17, 17 Pro, 17 Pro Max, 16 series, 15 series, 14 series (on sale), and older models back to iPhone X
- Samsung Galaxy: S25 series, S24 series, S23 (sold out), S22 (on sale)
- Google Pixel: 10 series, 9 series, 8 series, 7 series (on sale)
We add new models in parallel of phone launches.
"Does MagBak work with Apple's MagSafe accessories?"
Yes. Our cases are fully MagSafe compatible — Apple's MagSafe wallet, MagSafe charger, MagSafe battery pack, and any third-party MagSafe accessories all work.
"I have a non-MagBak case. Will the MagBak Wallet work with it?"
Every case brand positions their magnets differently but if your case supports MagSafe, then you are covered. That being said, some cases work great, some barely hold. The MagBak Wallet is tuned for our magnet placement. If you're using another case, your mileage will vary.
"Does the Elite case have a Camera Control button for iPhone 17 series?"
Yes — the iPhone 17 cases include a built-in Camera Control button that works with the phone's camera control feature.
The Wallet
"My new wallet is super tight. Is it defective?"
Nope — that's by design. The leather is intentionally snug when new to hold cards securely. It loosens up over the first week or two of use. Think of it like breaking in a leather shoe.
"Does the MagBak Wallet hold enough cards?"
It holds multiple cards comfortably. It's designed for the essentials — ID, a couple credit cards, maybe a transit card. It's not trying to replace a bifold wallet. It's for people who want to carry less.
"What's the difference between Nappa and Saffiano leather?"
Nappa is smooth and soft — it has that premium, buttery feel. Saffiano has a textured cross-hatch pattern — it's more resistant to scratches and scuffs, and hides wear better over time. Both are real leather. Pick based on feel vs. durability preference.
"What's the warranty on the wallet?"
If you ordered on or after April 19, 2024: lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects. Before that date: one-year warranty. Custom engraved wallets have a 1-year warranty (no returns on engravings unless we made the error).
Tesla Owners
"Which Tesla models work with the MagBak Charger?"
Model S, Model 3, Model X, Model Y, and Cybertruck.
"Do I need a MagBak case to use the Tesla Charger?"
No — it works with any MagSafe-compatible case or phone. The charger uses the same magnetic alignment system.
"Will the RimCase fall off at highway speed?"
No. It uses a hook mechanism that snaps into place — it's not just held by friction. It's been tested at highway speeds. You can also go through car washes with it on.
"Can I get my wheels balanced or aligned with RimCase installed?"
Yes — no need to remove them for routine wheel alignment and balancing. You only need to remove them for full tire changes.
Shipping, Returns, and the Practical Stuff
"How fast do you ship?"
Standard shipping (USPS) is 3-5 business days within the US. FedEx expedited is 2 business days. International shipping varies by region but typically 2-7 business days via FedEx. Processing takes 1-3 business days before the carrier gets it.
Free standard shipping on eligible US orders.
"What's your return policy?"
30-day money-back guarantee from date of delivery on everything purchased on magbak.com. You pay return shipping. For items over $75, we recommend using trackable shipping or buying insurance.
Clearance items are final sale — no returns, no exchanges.
"I bought on Amazon. Can I return through MagBak?"
No — Amazon orders must go through Amazon's return process. We can answer questions about the product, but Amazon handles their own logistics.
"I got my order and something's missing."
Contact support within 3 business days of receiving your package. We'll sort it out. If tracking shows delivered but you didn't receive it, let us know within 3-5 business days.
"Can I change or cancel my order?"
Within one hour of placing it — yes. After that, contact our support team and we'll get things sorted out.
The Honest Stuff We Think You Should Know
"Why are your cases more expensive than Amazon cases?"
Because N52 magnets cost more than N35 magnets. Because engineering a 1.8mm profile that doesn't crack takes more R&D than a 4mm rubber shell. Because we test every phone model individually for wireless charging speeds, magnet alignment, and antenna interference.
You can absolutely get a $12 magnetic case on Amazon. It'll probably work... okay. The magnets will be weaker, the case will be thicker, and wireless charging speeds will be slower. For some people, that's fine. We build for people who notice the difference.
"What makes MagBak different from Pitaka/Rokform/Peak Design?"
We get compared to these brands a lot. Here's our honest take:
- Pitaka makes great aramid fiber cases — lighter, more premium material. Trade-off: less drop protection, higher price point.
- Rokform is the rugged option — thicker, more protective. Trade-off: bulkier, heavier, and the extra thickness can slow wireless charging.
- Peak Design focuses on the mounting ecosystem (bike mounts, tripods). Trade-off: their magnet system is proprietary, not standard MagSafe.
We aim to optimize: slim + strong magnets + MagSafe/Qi2 compatible + our own mounting system (MagStick). Our bet is that most people want the best combination of thin, magnetic, and compatible — not necessarily the most rugged or the lightest single material.
"Should I get the Classic or Elite case?"
Classic is a great clean and simple case with best in class built-in magnets. It's slim, grippy, and does the job.
Elite adds more comfort and practical features: swappable accent colors, a built-in finger loop and kickstand, inlcuded screen protector, and a more premium feel. If you're the type who likes customizing your setup or you want the finger loop for one-handed use, go Elite.
Both have the same N52 magnets and the same wireless charging performance.
